According to a report by Wolves Bite, Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Ivan Cavaleiro is set to join Fuham.

It is claimed in the report that Fulham have beaten Derby County and Huddersfield Town to his signature. Cavaleiro will apparently move to Craven Cottage on a season-long loan ahead of a potential £12 million permanent move.

The latest news comes as a blow for Derby. Cavaleiro would have been an excellent addition for the Rams.

The talented winger netted nine times and grabbed 12 assists during Wolves’ Championship title-winning campaign. However, he made just six Premier League appearances last term.

Cavaleiro has speed, trickery and an eye for goal. At 25, he still has his best years ahead of him and the Portuguese winger has top level experience.

Derby must strengthen their wide options this summer. Harry Wilson topped the club’s scoring charts with 18 goals last term. His return to parent club Liverpool following his loan spell leaves a big void to fill.

Newly-appointed manager Phillip Cocu current doesn’t have many options to work with. Tom Lawrence and Florian Jozefzoon started the recent 2-0 friendly win over Sarasota in the US, with Mason Bennett in reserve.

The trio, however, only scored a combined 11 goals in all competitions last season. Jozefzoon and Bennett were largely impact players, making just 24 Championship starts between them.

The wide options are an area of weakness for Derby. Cavaleiro would have significantly strengthened the side’s attack, but Fulham’s promotion ambitions arguably make them a better prospect right now.
