Derby County beat Charlton Athletic 1-0 in League One this afternoon.
Derby County headed to Charlton Athletic in League One this afternoon, taking on an Addicks side who hadn’t won in their last 13 games in all competitions before kick off.
The London club also remain managerless after sacking Michael Appleton last month whereas the Rams have been flying high in League One.
Paul Warne‘s side found themselves in 4th place of the table ahead of kick off today, and then found themselves in front at half-time owing to a Nathaniel Mendez-Laing goal.
Derby then held on for a very positive win at The Valley, with the win lifting the Rams into 2nd place of the table after Peterborough lost at home to Wigan Athletic, and Bolton drew with Barnsley.
It was a solid win today and one player who stood out today was deadline day signing Ebou Adams.
Ebou Adams impresses in Derby County debut
Adams, 28, joined on loan from Cardiff City this week, starting in the midfield on his Derby County debut.
And the Gambian international impressed, earning praise from Derbyshire Live journalist Leigh Curtis who posted on X during the first half:
As per Sofascore, Adams made 6 defensive actions today with 4 interceptions (joint-most), 1 tackle, 1 block, and 1 clearance.
Adams also recorded 40 touches of the ball with 16 passes completed out of 25.
Rams stint could rediscover Adams best form
It’s been a tough past year for Adams, who joined Cardiff on a permanent deal from Forest Green Rovers in 2022.
He was impressing in League One but found himself injured for the whole of his maiden season in the Championship, not making his league debut for the Bluebirds until this season.
But he’s now fit and he’s back playing in League One where he know he can perform, and we certainly saw a lot of positive signs from him today.

He really kept Charlton at bay in the first half especially; he was picking up loose balls and keeping play ticking over nicely, allowing midfield partner Max Bird to play a bit more advanced with the now Bristol City man also impressing today.
With Adams in the midfield, Derby certainly look a lot more balanced and it’s a positive sign for the Rams as they push for promotion to the Championship.
Up next for Derby County is a home game vs Shrewsbury Town next weekend.
