Lee Johnson’s Bristol City won four straight Championship games before surprisingly losing at home to Birmingham City 3-1 last Friday night.

In City’s squad there are several ex Rams. Andreas Weimann, Kasey Palmer and most recently Jamie Paterson have all had spells at Pride Park.

Leicester City’s Filip Benkovic was heavily linked with Derby before joining the Robins in January on loan. But another player Derby previously missed out on was O’Dowda.

The former Oxford United winger reportedly held talks with Derby back in 2016.

The Daily Mail claim the Rams had settled on a £1 million deal for O’Dowda. However, the player’s wage demands were proving to be a stumbling block.

The republic of Ireland international eventually joined City in the summer of 2016. He has gone on to make over 100 Championship appearances for the club.

O’Dowda has been in and out of the side this season. He has started ten games, making a further 11 substitute appearances, posting one goal and one assist.

Derby may come up against him on Wednesday. The Rams will be hoping he doesn’t rediscover his top form as both teams target another important three points.
