Derby County won 3-0 away at Leyton Orient in League One today, with one man standing out yet again.

Derby County earned an impressive three points away at Leyton Orient in League One this afternoon, thanks to goals from Louie Sibley, Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, and Tom Barkhuizen.

The Rams overcame 10-man Orient in routine fashion to extend their winning run in League One to five games, with four wins in four in all competitions.

Paul Warne‘s side now move up a place into 5t after leapfrogging Oxford United who lost away at Peterborough United.

Today’s performance was another impressive one as Derby continue their romp up the table, and it was another big performance from Mendez-Laing.

‘Magic’ Mendez-Laing runs riot at Orient

The 31-year-old is a hugely important player for Warne’s side.

His recent form has been some of the best that Derby County fans have seen from the attacker since he arrived ahead of last season, with goals and assists coming at a crucial time right now.

Derbyshire Live reporter Leigh Curtis hailed Mendez-Laing’s ‘magic’ run of form after he doubled Derby’s lead, before Mendez-Laing ran the length of the pitch towards the end of the game to set up Barkhuizen for an easy third.

As well as recording a goal and an assist, Mendez-Laing made 15/19 passes, 1 clearance, interception, and tackle, and an impressive 4 key passes which is more than anyone on the pitch today (Sofascore).

More to come from Derby County?

There was a lot of pressure on Derby County going into this season.

They were a lot of peoples’ favourite for the title early on but it didn’t start well for Warne, who was coming under increasing pressure just a few weeks ago.

But this turnaround in form has been impressive and he has a lot of thanks to give to Mendez-Laing.

The Rams boss was surprised that Mendez-Laing didn’t get a November League One Player of the Month award but with the way he’s started December, this month could be his month.

He’s epitomising the dominant style of football that Warne wants his side to adopt and he’ll be crucial in the Rams’ fight for promotion this season, which is right back on track after five-straight wins in the league.

Up next for Derby County is a home game vs Wycombe Wanderers next Saturday.
