The young attacking midfielder has been earning rave reviews for the U23s. And, on his first Championship start, he netted a wonderful 25-yard strike.

Speaking to RamsTV, Cocu told Sibley it is a special moment in his career.

I told him after the game that many more great moments and enjoyment will come by in his career, but this is a special one. He deserved it and he found the net today in a great way.

Sibley is starting to show what he is all about.

The Derby academy star has featured in cup competitions this season. However, he has often looked quite raw and off the pace of senior football.

But against Blackburn on Sunday he demonstrated his natural ability.

Sibley recorded two shots, two successful take-ons and an 80% pass-accuracy rate. Blackburn couldn’t handle him at times, fouling him three times.

Derby’s Jayden Bogle, Max Lowe, Jason Knight and Max Bird have established themselves in the first-team this season. Sibley is another academy star to add to the list.
