Reported Derby County target Rob Dickie has justified the interest shown in him with a number of top performances since January.

The Oxford United centre-back has attracted plenty of suitors this season.

According to Football Insider, Derby are keen on a deal for the £4 million rated player. The same source also claim Southampton and Burnley are tracking him.

Dickie has enjoyed a terrific individual campaign at Oxford. The League One side are pushing for the playoffs and enjoyed a decent run in both cup competitions.

Dickie has come up against Manchester City and Newcastle United. He helped Oxford keep a clean sheet against the latter, dealing with £40 million striker Joelinton.

At 23, the central defender has an abundance of potential. He is tall, strong and excellent on the ball, earning comparisons with Manchester United’s Harry Maguire.

Dickie’s latest form isn’t bad either. In his past six games, Oxford have kept three clean sheets. Dickie, meanwhile, has scooped two MOTM awards and an assist.

His Whoscored average rating over those six games is an impressive 7.91.

Derby are in the market for a new central defender. Mike te Wierik has penned a pre-contract agreement to join the Rams in June, but they will need one or two more.

Loanee Matt Clarke will return to Brighton and Hove Albion. Curtis Davies turns 35, while Craig Forsyth’s contract expires at the end of the current campaign.

Dickie may not come cheap. But, he could fill a big void at Pride Park.
