Derby County winger Corey Blackett-Taylor has now sent a message to supporters following their 2-2 draw against Portsmouth last night.

Derby claimed a vital point on the road against league leaders Portsmouth.

The Rams thought they’d claimed a mammoth three points when Joe Ward‘s deflected strike put them ahead for the second time in the match, however, Owen Moxon’s thunderbolt equalised proceedings late on.

Although Paul Warne‘s men couldn’t hold out for maximum points, he was proud of the team’s performance after executing a counter-attacking plan that exploited the hosts’ left-hand side.

Corey Blackett-Taylor played an instrumental role in this tactic, utilising his electric pace to set up Ward for his first goal.

The jet-heeled winger was a complete nuisance to play against all night and caused Pompey so many problems with his tendency to drift in field and drive at defenders.

Following a slow start to life in a Derby shirt, Blackett-Taylor just played his best game for the club and has now sent a message to supporters.

Corey Blackett-Taylor sends message to Derby supporters

Blackett-Taylor joined Derby from strugglers Charlton Athletic as he wanted to be a part of nights like these.

The 26-year-old deserved to be involved in a promotion-chasing side after lighting up League One at the Addicks with eight goals and seven assists this term before his move.

The winger would have also been attracted by playing in front of packed-out crowds every week and the atmosphere from both sides last night was electric.

It felt like a Championship game in waiting as the atmosphere in the stands, particularly from the 2000 Derby fans, was matched by high levels of quality on the pitch.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter after the game, Blackett-Taylor has praised the Derby faithful for contributing to an incredible atmosphere while giving his teammates some credit.

Blackett-Taylor was brilliant against Portsmouth

Blackett-Taylor waited patiently for his chance to shine following a few injury niggles, with the winger certainly showing why Derby shelled out a sizeable loan fee for him in January.

When given space to drive into, the former Charlton man glides across the pitch in a perpetual motion and Portsmouth found it difficult to stop him.

His incredible pace and running power gave Warne’s men the perfect chance to hit them on the counter, as he finally showed his capabilities in a Rams shirt.

Many were left questioning his arrival while others knew he would come good, and if he can continue reaching these levels, he will decimate several more defences on their way to promotion.
