17-year-old midfielder Courtney Clarke has been on trial with Derby County recently, featuring three times for the U18s.

Clarke plays for Isthmian League South East Division outfit Whyteleafe FC in the eighth tier of English football and has previously endured trial spells with Premier League duo West Ham and Leicester City.

West Ham are still said to be tracking the ‘Patrick Viera-type’ box-to-box midfielder, with Manchester City also said to be watching the youngster.

Alongside the aforementioned clubs, the teenager is also being monitored by Brighton & Hove Albion, Millwall and Charlton Athletic.

The starlet has not only featured for Derby U18s, but also the U18s set ups of West Ham and Leicester, facing Fulham for the Hammers in September of last year and later featuring against Spurs for the Foxes.

On Saturday, Clarke featured for Derby Under-18’s against Manchester United, and got himself on the scoresheet.

The teenager put Derby 2-1 up in a 3-1 win, scoring alongside Malik Mothersille and Osazee Aghatise.

Clarke is going the right way if he wants a deal at Derby, and the Rams could beat major competition in the process.
