Derby County are known for having one of the best academies in the country.

They are one of two League One clubs to have a Category One academy, along with recently relegated Reading.

With that, only a few have managed to get some minutes in the first team under manager Paul Warne.

The Rams have started to loan younger players out with Alex Gibson-Hammond joining Buxton on loan until January, that being confirmed on Tuesday.

Here we take a look at three players that Derby should look to loan out in the upcoming January transfer window, so then they can gain experience playing first-team football.

3 Derby players that should leave on loan:

Dajaune Brown

Dajaune Brown is a player fans have been clamouring for to get more first team minutes this season.

He has made a few appearances this season, coming off the bench once in each of League One, the EFL Cup and FA Cup. He has also started in the EFL Trophy a few weeks ago against Wolves under-21s.

The recently turned 18-year-old has scored five goals so far this season for the under-21s, including a brace in their only win so far, a 4-2 win over Manchester City’s under-21s just under a month ago.

With plenty of striking options such as Conor Washington, James Collins and Martin Waghorn standing in his way, a loan move is exactly what Brown needs.

Darren Robinson is an 18-year-old defensive midfielder, who Derby fans will be familiar with.

A versatile player, being able to play at centre back, he has also featured in the Derby squad against Crewe and has been in and around the first team squad for a fair amount of time.

He has represented his county, Northern Ireland, at under-21 level. He has already made his first team debut, making a Championship appearance for the club in 21/22.

However, with reported interest from Southampton and Aston Villa, Derby may want to think about offering him a new contract before letting him leave on loan.

Adebayo Fapetu

Adebayo Fapetu made his first team debut for Derby in the 4-1 win over Wolves U21s in the EFL Trophy a few weeks ago.

The 18-year-old was labelled as ‘impressive’ for his display on the night, where he played in central midfield. He had 47 touches and completed 25 passes on the night.

A loan move may be what he needs in order to realise his potential, which he clearly has as shown on the night.
