Jacob Widell Zetterstrom finally completed his move to Derby County last week.

The Rams have had a hectic 2024 summer transfer window so far, adding nine first-team players to their ranks.

A number of their new additions were in action over the weekend when Derby County beat Middlesbrough 1-0.

Nathaniel Mendez-Laing scored the only goal of the game after capitalising on an error from Isaiah Jones.

Kayden Jackson also looked sharp during the clash while Josh Vickers has been praised for his crucial role in Derby securing the win at Pride Park.

Ahead of Saturday’s match, Derby County completed the signing of Jacob Widell Zetterstrom.

The Rams agreed a £1.4million deal to sign Zetterstrom from Swedish outfit Djurgardens last month.

But his move was delayed as Djurgardens wanted to keep hold of the goalkeeper for their Europa Conference League qualifying matches.

The move was wrapped up ahead of the Boro game and while he did not feature, the 26-year-old watched on from the stands as his new club came out on top.

After the clash, Paul Warne made a hilarious claim about Zetterstrom, labelling him a ‘handsome devil’.

Now, ahead of the Rams’ Championship meeting with Watford this weekend, fans of the club have been treated to a preview of what their latest signing can offer.

Derby’s official X/Twitter account posted a video that showcased the goalkeeper being put through his paces by the club’s goalkeeper coach:

Will Jacob Widell Zetterstrom start against Watford

After being integrated into training this week, Derby fans may expect to see Zetterstrom between the sticks come kick-off at Vicarage Road on August 24th.

However, Warne now has a bit of a dilemma on his hands following Vicker’s display against Michael Carrick’s side.

After signing from Rotherham United in 2023, the 28-year-old has, so far, only made 15 appearances for Derby in all competitions.

He was backup to Joe Wildsmith in 2023/24 and was expected to play a similar role when the deal for Zetterstorm was first announced.

But after showing he is more than capable of competing at a Championship level, it would now be quite harsh if Warne dropped Vickers for their meeting with Watford.
