Derby County got their first win of the season on Tuesday.
Just a few weeks after Chesterfield thumped Derby County 4-0 in pre-season, the Rams got their own back.
In the opening round of the Carabao Cup, Derby County beat Chesterfield 2-1 at Pride Park, securing their spot in the next round of the cup.
For Paul Warne, it’s a welcome first win of the season after the opening day defeat vs Blackburn Rovers.
But it wasn’t an easy game for the Rams who had to come from behind the claim the win; Liam Thompson and Kayden Jackson were on the score-sheet.
Warne made several changes to the side, handing young striker Dajaune Brown a starting spot.
Brown shone on loan with Gateshead last season, scoring five goals in 18 National League appearances.
But Brown struggled against Chesterfield; he recorded two shots off target, the joint-most of any player on the pitch, and has since received some mixed reviews from Derby fans on social media.

Derby County fans react to Dajaune Brown performance vs Chesterfield
The overall feeling among Derby County fans regarding Brown is that he’s not ready to play in the Championship.
The Rams academy graduate remains very inexperienced but he showed his work-rate vs Chesterfield, with his movement allowing him to set up Thompson for his impressive strike.
One Rams fan said Brown is “not quite ready yet and would suit a League Two loan”, whilst another added: “Brown looked promising but lacked the final product.”
Elsewhere, one fan said Brown simply “needs time” to progress with the first-team squad at Derby County, whilst another said: “You can see he [Brown] isn’t ready to be our main striker yet.”
Brown though faced criticism from a few. One fan said: “Brown had his chance tonight and fluffed too many chances,” whilst another added: “That’s the last we will be seeing of Brown for a while.”

Overall, it seems like Brown won’t be much of an impact player for Derby County in the Championship this season, given that he somewhat struggled against League Two opposition on Tuesday.
But at 18, he remains very young, and very inexperienced. A full season playing regular first-team football would be the best thing for him right now, and after his impressive stint in the National League, a step up to League Two could be ideal.
Playing against the likes of Chesterfield every week will quickly get Brown up to speed, and he could soon start to fulfil his potential with the Derby first-team.
Like fans say; he’s not the finished product, but he could one day be a very good player for the club.
