With the 2024/25 Championship season just around the corner, Derby County are counting down the days towards their return to action.
Paul Warne managed to confirm promotion from League One back to the second tier with a memorable 2023/24 campaign.
The Rams now have a busy summer ahead of them, with some huge potential transfers joining the squad before the start of the season.
Once the Championship is back underway, Derby will be looking to keep their status in the league at the very least.
With pre-season, transfer windows, fixture release day and much more waiting in the near future, here’s a look at the key dates for Derby County this season.
When does the summer transfer window start?
The Championship transfer window opens on Friday, June 14th, 2024, which will allow Derby the opportunity to register new signings.
This opening date is in line with the rest of the English professional leagues and most of the major European divisions too.
When is the summer transfer deadline day?
Transfer deadline day for the summer window has been moved to Friday, August 30th, 2024.
The original date was later, however this has since been brought forward to be in line with other major European leagues.
Derby County pre-season dates
Derby are yet to confirm when their players will return to Moor Farm for pre-season training, however, they have set up some friendlies.
The first of which is on July 12th against Matlock Town, before the Rams jet off to Alicante the following day for their training camp.

Championship fixture release date
The EFL will release the Championship fixture schedule on Wednesday, June 26th at 9am BST.
Derby fans will want to keep a close eye on the fixtures, with a keen eye on the start and the end of the season, as well as those games around the festive season.
Championship 2024/25 start date
The Championship season will start on August 10th, 2024, though it is currently unknown who the Rams will face.
When are the Championship international breaks?
With a return to the Championship, Derby are also greeted by the return of regularly scheduled international breaks.
There are four over the course of a season, with three towards the start of the campaign and one towards the end.
They are as follows:
- September 2-10
- October 7-15
- November 11-19
- March 17-25
January transfer window dates
The January transfer window opens on January 1st, 2025, while it closes on February 3rd, 2025, giving teams some extra time to get any final deals through the door.
When is the final day of the Championship?
The final game of the 2024/25 Championship season will be on May 3rd, 2025, with teams all playing at the same time.
Championship play-off dates
The EFL are yet to confirm the dates for the 2024/25 Championship play-offs, but they are likely to do so in the new year.
Carabao Cup and FA Cup start and final dates
This season’s Carabao Cup first round starts on August 13th, 2024, though the draw for the competition is yet to be made.
The final for the League Cup is March 1st, 2025, with the Rams hopeful of stringing together an impressive cup run.
FA Cup action will also be present later in the campaign, though Derby enter in the third round, due to being in the Championship.
The date for the 2024/25 FA Cup final has been set as May 17th, 2025.
