Derby County manager Phillip Cocu has Rams TV how Jayden Bogle will be out for at least the next two games.

The talented right-back suffered an ankle injury during the 0-0 draw with Swansea City. Bogle was replaced by fellow academy graduate Max Lowe, and he was seen using a protective boot post-match.

Bogle is one of Derby’s most important players. The youngster provides an attacking outlet from right-back, grabbing two goals and eight assists during the 2018-19 campaign.

Cocu commented before the Carabao Cup clash against Scunthorpe United how he was hopeful Bogle’s injury was only a minor one. However, the Dutchman now reveals it is more serious than anticipated.

We know a little bit more now. He will be out for a certain period of time. He will not make it for the next two games so we will have to see how he will be doing day-by-day. He is still a young guy so hopefully it will not take too long. It’s a little bit longer than we had expected.

What does Jayden Bogle’s injury mean for Max Lowe?

Cocu went on to explain Max Lowe’s involvement at right-back against Scunthorpe was for the player to get used to the position. Lowe had a decent game, and he is now the top choice to face Stoke City on Saturday.

Lowe spent last season on loan at Aberdeen and built up quite a rapport with the club’s supporters. The talent is there, but his previous games in the Championship have resulted in a struggle for the youngster.

Derby will be wary that the left-footed fullback playing on the opposite side may hinder their attacking game. However, Stoke play a narrow diamond formation, therefore Lowe will get space at the Bet365 Stadium this weekend.

Bogle, meanwhile, will likely also miss the ensuing home games against Bristol City and West Bromwich Albion.
