Paul Warne has got Derby County competing with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in one key area.
The Rams secured promotion back to the Championship during the 2023/24 campaign.
Derby County ended the previous season second in League One and have had a superb start to 2024/25 as well.
Paul Warne watched his side secure a massive 2-0 win over Cardiff City this past weekend, moving them up to eighth in the Championship table.

Prior to that, Derby beat Bristol City 3-0 and earned three points against Middlesbrough when playing at Pride Park.
The Derbyshire outfit have now kept three clean sheets in a row when playing at home this term and are five away from breaking their current record for most consecutive home clean sheets in the league, which stands at seven from the 2016/17 campaign under Steve McClaren.

Derby County rival Manchester City in one key area
Derby’s form at home this term will not come as a surprise to fans of the club.
Their defensive record and ability to pick up points at home played a key role in them winning promotion to the Championship.
And with Pride Park looking set to remain a fortress in 2024/25, it could be what keeps Warne’s men in the second division for another campaign.
After beating Cardiff over the weekend, it has now been revealed that Derby have won 103 points at home since the start of 2022/23.
Only Ipswich Town (109) and Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City (105), have picked up more points on home soil than the Rams.

Derby County upcoming home fixtures
Derby’s home record will be crucial in them avoiding a relegation scrap this season, especially as they have some very tough away fixtures on the horizon.
Warne’s side are away to recently-relegated Sheffield United this weekend as they go in search of their first points on the road since winning promotion.
A tough outing at the Stadium of Light against high-flying Sunderland then awaits the Rams on October 1st.
However, while both of those clashes are expected to prove tough for Derby to win, their upcoming run of home games is much kinder.
The Derbyshire outfit host Norwich City on September 28th before taking on Queens Park Rangers at Pride Park on October 5th.
Derby’s first home match back following next month’s international break is another very winnable clash versus a struggling Hull City.
Based on their form so far this season, both Warne and the Derby faithful will be expecting maximum points from said meetings.
