So, with that said, here’s a look at everything you need to know about Eiran Cashin, from his playing career to his future.

Eiran Cashin Ireland career

Eiran Cashin represents the Republic of Ireland on the international stage, having played for both the under-18s and under-21s. While the youngster was born in Mansfield, England, he qualifies for Ireland through his Grandmother.
“My granny [Rita Cashin] was born in Leitrim,” Cashin explained, via the Irish Mirror. “She’s over there in the stand, travelling across the country. That’s where my Irish comes from.
“I’ve been to Ireland loads of times, I love the country. Now that I can finally say that I’m Irish and to play is an honour. I’m just glad to get it done. 12 or 13 [family members] came along and hopefully I sent them home with a smile on their faces.”
Eiran Cashin Derby County career
Eiran Cashin has been part of the youth setup at Derby County since he was eight-years-old, joining in 2009. The defender made his way through the ranks, becoming a part of the under-18s team that won the Premier League title and featured on the European stage.
His eventual place in the team may not have come true though, had he been released from the academy. “There has been a few times when I was close to leaving,” Cashin told the club website. “One of them being when people were getting their professional deals.
“There were eight of us in our group and six of the lads got offered professional deals and two of us got told we may not get them because of covid-19 challenges. I waited it out, kept my head down and a few months later they managed to sort something out so that was a relief.
“Knowing you weren’t in the top six choices at the time wasn’t ideal, but it didn’t affect me too much mentally. I got my head down and that’s what I’ve done since.”
Cashin made his professional debut for the club in 2021, coming on as a substitute to face Blackpool. The youngster featured 18 times that campaign, though issues off the pitch would subject the Rams to relegation.
Cashin extended his contract in 2022, which would then see him develop into a starting role under Liam Rosenior and later Paul Warne.

Eiran Cashin Derby County contract
In February 2024, Eiran Cashin signed a brand new contract with Derby County that would keep him at the club longer. The defender originally had a deal until summer 2024 – with reports of a club option of an extra year included that would take it to 2025.
However, Derby ensured they were well protected on the contract front as they offered new terms to the academy graduate. That was signed, which was later revealed to be a three-year extension that would take his stay until 2027.
“I’m buzzing, really,” the defender told the official club website after signing the new deal. “I’m buzzing to get it over the line, to get things finalised and now I can just concentrate on my football and the push for promotion.”

Eiran Cashin Brighton transfer links
Eiran Cashin has been linked with a number of potential moves away from Derby County in the past few years. The most recent of which has come as interest from Brighton, as TeamTalk reported of a move in summer 2023 as well as a possible deal in January 2024.
The defender shut down those links though, when he signed a new contract with Derby in February 2024.
Eiran Cashin worth
According to Transfermarkt, Eiran Cashin’s transfer value is around €1.8million, which is worth roughly £1.5million.
Eiran Cashin playing style
Eiran Cashin is a left-footed, left-sided centre-back. The defender is comfortable in possession, capable of playing out from the back, while he is also able to pick out a good diagonal pass. The 22-year-old also has good ball-carrying ability, with a desire to drive further up the pitch with the ball.
Defending is where most will keep an eye on Cashin’s ability and he is more than capable in a first-team setting. The centre-back is robust in challenges, more than willing to put his body on the line when required.
There may be concerns over his height, however Cashin is able to leap high and makes adjustments for lacking a towering stature. Pace is another worry, with forwards able to cause problems if they get behind the defensive line.
That said, the defender is more than capable and at just 22-years-old, there is plenty more growth on the pitch to come.
