Derby County are once again facing a crucial January transfer window in their quest for promotion.
Derby County now find themselves in 4th place of the League One table after a commanding 3-1 win at Fleetwood Town earlier today.
Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, James Collins, and Tom Barkhuizen were on the scoresheet as Paul Warne‘s side bounced back from a New Year’s Day defeat at home to Peterborough United.
Whilst the Rams will of course be keen to keen the heat on the likes of Bolton Wanderers, Portsmouth, and Posh, Warne and co will also be keen to see what business they can do in this month’s transfer window.
And we’ve so far seen a few rumours emerge.

Charlie Savage eyed by Derby County
One name linked with Derby County this month is Charlie Savage.
Son of former Rams midfielder Robbie, Charlie currently plays for League One strugglers Reading and it’s said that Derby fancy a January move for the 20-year-old central midfielder.
But Warne’s side have seen their initial approach knocked back.
Conor Coventry on Rams’ radar
It seems like Derby County want to sign a new central midfielder this month, with another linked in Conor Coventry.
The 23-year-old currently plays for West Ham but is out of favour, having yet to feature in the Premier League this season, and seemingly poised for a move in this month’s window with Derby among the Football League teams chasing his signature.

Max Bird speculation ramping up
It makes sense that Derby might want to sign a central midfielder this month, with key player Max Bird a man of interest.
Hull City continue to be linked after failing to sign him in the summer, and were tipped to move for the 23-year-old in this month’s transfer window.
And former Derby no.2 and now Hull boss Liam Rosenior recently said that he has some exciting transfer news to share in the coming days; potentially hinting at a move for Bird.
But the Rams continue to insist that Bird isn’t for sale this month, despite his contract expiring in the summer.
Paul Warne says Derby need ‘fresh blood’
Warne recently shared his thoughts on whether or not Derby County need to be active in this month’s transfer window, saying:
“It’s evident we need one or two players to help us over the line but there are no guarantees. Everybody is trying actively to reinforce it but I’ve said loads of times that the best teams who went up last year, didn’t lose anyone and improved. We didn’t improve. We kept the same group and they just fatigued by the end. We have an older team than a lot of others but we need fresh blood I think.”
The Rams then look set to bring in some players this month. Midfield could be a key position which Warne looks to bolster, especially if Bird moves on; if not then bringing in a new midfielder now could replace him later down the line.
Derby County are back in action against Bradford City in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday.
