Derby County youngster Jayden Mitchell-Lawson has told RamsTV how new ‘joker’ teammate Jahmal Hector-Ingram has settled in brilliantly at the club.

Hector-Ingram joined the Rams from West Ham United in the summer.

The striker struggled to make the grade at the Premier League club. However, since joining Derby he hasn’t stopped scoring as the U23 side surge up the table.

Mitchell-Lawson describes his new teammate as a joker in the changing room, showing his confidence which helped Hector-Ingram win the player of the month award.

As soon as he came in, he’s a good laugh. When he is out training and on the pitch he is serious, but when he’s back in [the changing room] he’s a bit of a joker. It’s brilliant to win player of the month, that’s a big thing for the U23s and he has done so well. Hopefully he doesn’t stop scoring until the end of the season

Jahmal Hector-Ingram enjoys fine start at Derby County:

Hector-Ingram has been named the Premier League 2 player of the month award for October. It has been a stark turnaround following his release from West Ham last summer.

The youngster has posted seven goals and two assists this season

The Rams are joint on points with leaders Chelsea in the table, while their International Cup run continues following a recent 2-1 win over Feyenoord.

Many of the U23 side won the U18 Premier League trophy at Pride Park last season. It shows the depth of talent currently available in the Rams youth teams.

Derby boss Phillip Cocu has given the likes of Lee Buchanan, Max Bird, Louie Sibley, Morgan Whittaker and Jason Knight opportunities in the first team this season.

Hector-Ingram may soon be given a chance, or another logical step would be to send him out on loan in January to gain valuable experience at senior level.
