After weeks of speculation, it was today confirmed that Derby County starlet Kaide Gordon has completed his move to Premier League champions Liverpool.

It was reported by John Percy on the 24th January that a deal had been struck between the two parties, totalling over £1m with the potential to rise to £3m should certain clauses be met.

The Rams believed Gordon to be the ‘best 16-year-old in the country’ and had tried their best to keep hold of the youngster according to a report by The Athletic, however, the pulling power of Liverpool proved too much as today’s transfer proves.

Gordon made his professional debut for Derby during a 4-0 thrashing of Birmingham City at the back end of December, replacing Graeme Shinnie in the dying embers of the game.

Supporters took to social media following news of the teenager’s departure to Merseyside, mostly wishing him well for his future endeavours, however, not everyone was quite as hopeful for the young Englishman.

When all is said and done, this opportunity was simply too good to turn down for a player of Gordon’s class. Simply put, when the big guns come calling, you answer.

It is believed that Gordon will now ply his trade in the Liverpool academy as he continues to develop his already impressive skillset in the search for more first team action.
