Phil Jones is being linked with a reunion with Wayne Rooney – and some Derby County fans have reacted on social media.
The Manchester United centre-half is way down the pecking order at Old Trafford, and has not featured for the Red Devils in 2020/21 having been omitted from their Premier League and Champions League squads.

Derby are said (Daily Star) to be keen on taking Jones on loan next month, with Rooney open to bringing in his former teammate.
The interest reports have prompted a generally positive reaction from Derby fans on social media, many of whom see the Englishman’s experience as a positive:
Absolutely

I’d say no for now. His wage demands would be huge. I can’t see that as a position we need to strengthen either at the moment. much more pressing issues like competition for strikers to look at.

We Need a CB. He’s certainly got experience. He may not be good enough for Man U these days but at Championship level he most certainly will be.

Better than what we’ve got without a doubt

Be a great signing in championship

We are in the relegation zone and some of you are saying no. Absolutely deluded

Get him in!! Struggled with injured but would be a fantastic signing at this level! I remember fergie once comparing him to Duncan Edwards!

Of course I would – as far as his wages are concerned, I’d like to think he would take a pay cut to play – but if he comes on loan for the remainder of the season then MU would be paying most of it 🤷🏻♂️

100%. Why wouldn’t you want an England International?
As for wages, if he wants to play football and there are no other offers, he takes what is on offer.
They won’t break the wage structure. Can’t..

No. Was a good player. Just look at his injury record and his wages.

Regular minutes at Manchester United seem out of reach for Jones, with Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, Eric Bailly and Axel Tuanzebe all ahead of him.
It is therefore not out of the question he could depart on a temporary basis.

West Brom and Burnley are also thought to be in the hunt for the 28-year-old.
With Curtis Davies set to miss the rest of the season for the Rams after picking up an Achilles injury, it’s a move that could have legs.
