Fan favourite Colin Kazim-Richards has put pen to paper on a new deal with Derby County, signing until the end of the 2021/22 season.

The striker has been in fantastic form for the Rams this season, currently the top scorer at the club with six goals, also holding two assists to his name.

Signed originally by Phillip Cocu, the ‘Coca-Cola Kid’ came to life at Derby under the management of Wayne Rooney, under whom he’s recorded all of goals and assists since becoming a regular in the first team.

Alongside leading the way in terms of goal scoring, Kazim-Richards has been a fantastic leader in the dressing room and a player that Wayne Rooney has become able to rely upon as he steers the Rams away from a relegation battle.

At 34 years of age, ‘CKR’ has shown no signs of slowing down, in actual fact he’s enjoying one of his most successful individual campaigns to date and has openly said he feels he has a few more years left in him at the top level yet.

Written off by many before he had even kicked a ball, the forward has done an excellent job in getting the fans on his side this campaign and it’s fair to say that supporters are pleased with the news of his extension.

With the announcement dropping just hours before the big clash with Nottingham Forest, Derby fans have suggested that this is the ‘best news’ and that the experienced striker has been very deserving of a new deal – let’s see if he can celebrate with a goal tonight.
