Ebou Adams has named the two Derby County players who helped convinced him to join the club.
Derby County’s interest in Ebou Adams only seemed to come to light yesterday, but it was only hours later that they announced his arrival at the club.
The midfielder attracted attention during his time with Forest Green Rovers, where he helped them win League Two before earning himself a move to Cardiff City.
Adams spent a large part of his first season on the sidelines injured, before managing only eleven appearances last time out.
In a bid to gain more game-time, the 28-year-old has now completed a loan switch to Pride Park and he now ‘can’t stop smiling’.
It didn’t seem to take much convincing to lure Adams to Derby County, and he has admitted that he had already spoken to two Rams about the potential move.
Speaking to the official club website, Adams said: “I’ve spoken to Kane Wilson and Curtis Nelson, those two are the top of my call list at the minute.
“They told me about the club and how amazing it is and how I’ll be suited to fit in. They said it will suit me down to a tee so for them, you can use them two as an agent in all of this! It’s great to hear so many good things about the club though.”
How good of a signing is Ebou Adams?
Ebou Adams was absolutely fantastic in League Two when he won promotion with Forest Green Rovers.
During the 2021/22 season, the midfielder completed the most tackles in the fourth tier (107) and the fifth-most passes blocked (59), earning himself a place in the PFA Team of the Year.
Adams was clearly capable of making the jump up to League One if he had stayed with the club, while he was so successful that Cardiff even thought he was ready for the Championship.
If he hadn’t been injured then he could have had much more of an impact in Wales, and that perhaps suggests Derby County have done brilliantly to get the deal over the line.
Given that Max Bird looks set to stay at the club, it will be interesting to see whether Adams can force himself into the team and perhaps displace Conor Hourihane.
It is very important for The Rams to have some depth going into the final stages of the season though, and Adams’ arrival can surely only be beneficial.
