Queens Park Rangers defender Rob Dickie believes Derby County are in a false position as he looks back at the midweek 1-0 victory at Pride Park, qpr.co.uk report.

The Rams suffered their sixth defeat of the season on Wednesday.

QPR at home was earmarked as a must-win game for Phillip Cocu’s struggling side. However, despite recent improvement, Derby slipped to another disappointing result.

Just one win in ten league outings sees the Rams second from bottom in the table.

But speaking to reporters, QPR defender Dickie feels Derby have more quality than that.

We had to dig deep at times. They (Derby) are a good side and are probably in a bit of a false position at the moment. We dug in, defender our goal really well and to get the win was amazing.

QPR boss Mark Warburton echoed Dickie’s comments, claiming Derby’s attacking quality is very clear to see and was grateful for the change in shape from the Rams.

Phillip Cocu’s side had recent success with a back-three system, but against QPR the hosts returned to a back four allowing for an extra attacking player in the final third.

The change didn’t work. Derby lacked clear-cut chances, and spaces opened up for QPR on the break as Macauley Bonne scored an 88th minute winner.

Cocu has been bereft of luck during his spell at Pride Park. Injuries to key players, off-field incidents, a soft transfer embargo and poor officiating has hampered his progress.

But that said, Derby’s squad is better than their current position. Results ultimately haven’t been good enough, and Barnsley at home could now be the final roll of the dice.
