Derby County midfielder Graeme Shinnie has made the Sky Bet Championship Team of the Week following his recent efforts during the Rams’ 2-0 victory over Huddersfield Town.

Shinnie joins Nottingham Forest’s former Derby man Cyrus Christie in the selection, with Brentford represented by three players.

He recorded the most tackles, key passes and crosses on Tuesday night, alongside a few other pretty impressive stats.

The Scotsman has been one of the most consistent performers this season having seen his game improve dramatically under the management of Wayne Rooney.

Shinnie’s aggression and work rate was never in question, however, his technical ability has come on leaps and bounds this year, resulting in the midfielder becoming a regular in the starting XI.

The 29-year-old has only missed five games this season, one of those through suspension, as he continues to prove his undeniable worth to the side.

He’s arguably Frank Lampard’s best signing despite not playing a single match for the former Rams boss and his performance against the Terriers earnt him plenty of praise online from Derby supporters.

It is not only the supporters who have been happy with Shinnie’s showings as of late – Rooney also said the following in his latest press conference.

“He’s been getting better and better every week. Everybody knows he works hard, but his quality on the ball is improving every week. I’m delighted with his performances.”

High praise from both the boss and supporters for ‘Shinniesta’ in recent weeks, he is certainly doing something right.

Here’s hoping for an in-form Shinnie against Nottingham Forest on Friday, his performance shall be crucial if the Rams are to pick up points.
