Derby County goalkeeper Joe Wildsmith has said the team were ‘disappointed’ in the dressing room following the FA Cup first round replay defeat to Crewe Alexandra.
The Rams suffered a 3-1 defeat on Tuesday night at the hands of the League Two side, who now progress to the second round to face Bristol Rovers.
Tom Barkhuizen gave Derby the lead in three minutes, which initially gave the impression that this may be a comfortable night for Paul Warne’s side.
But Aaron Rowe equalised for the visitors just four minutes later, before completing the turnaround himself in the 21st minute.
The Alex then extended their lead in the 65th minute through Mickey Demetriou, to seal their place in the second round where they will host League One side Bristol Rovers.
Wildsmith on dressing room
Speaking to the club website following the defeat, Wildsmith explained the overall feel of the dressing room in the aftermath of the loss.
“I think the lads were really confident going into this one, especially at home. There was no reason for a performance like that and it was a bit of a shock really.
“The lads are really disappointed in there and I don’t think it’s from a lack of effort. I just think we were a bit impatient at times, especially when we went behind.
“The mood is sombre in the dressing room and the lads are really disappointed to go into the international break on the back of a defeat but it gives us a chance to work on things.”

The players should be disappointed after that performance.
Wildsmith was arguably the best player on the pitch for Derby, which says a lot when the goalkeeper is the best player on a team.
After arguably putting in their best performance of the season in the 3-0 win over Barnsley on Saturday afternoon, Derby fans would have been expecting more.
Warne now has time with his players to focus and regroup before their next match in a week-and-a-half’s time.
