Derby County winger Kane Wilson has now opened up about the role he played in helping lure Ebou Adams to Pride Park.
Ebou Adams was captured on loan from Cardiff City just a day before the January transfer window slammed shut.
The 28-year-old wanted to leave South Wales in search of regular football having played just 304 minutes of Championship action this term.
With Derby fighting for promotion out of League One, Pride Park seemed like the perfect destination for Adams and he’s slotted in perfectly.
Whilst the Rams have won just three of their six matches since he arrived, he has been the stand-out player, patrolling the centre of the park and superbly winning possession back for his team.
The ball-winning midfielder has even drawn “outstanding” praise for his performances having made such a difference.
Adams may only be six games into his Derby career, but fans are already calling for the club to snap him up permanently in the summer.
And if they do manage to pull off such a deal, they’ll have his teammate Kane Wilson to thank as he played a pivotal role in engineering a move.

Kane Wilson played a key role in Ebou Adams move to Derby
Wilson spent two years with Adams at Forest Green and the pair enjoyed a successful spell at the club having achieved promotion to League One in 2022.
During that time, the duo built up a strong friendship and despite both departing for pastures new at the end of that season, they still kept in touch with each other.
So, when the opportunity to sign the Cardiff midfielder popped up, Wilson was quick to recommend him to Warne and that has proven to be a masterstroke.
“I said to the gaffer that we should definitely get him here,” Wilson told Rams TV. “He also played with Curtis Nelson and Collo a little bit at Cardiff City, but we were really close at Forest Green and have been friends ever since. I’m glad he’s settled in so well because he’s such a good guy and deserves it.”
Great work by Wilson
Derby may have chosen to sign Adams without Wilson’s input, but his positive comments will have certainly helped Warne reach a final decision and what a move it has turned out to be so far.
It just shows the power that players can have on the outcome of a transfer and in this instance, it was great work from the former Bristol City man to help engineer a move.
Although he’s only in the early stages of his loan, it feels like Adams belongs at Pride Park as he’s enjoying his football and putting in performances that he’ll be proud of.
At the end of the season, regardless of what division Derby are in, Warne should do everything in his power to sign him permanently and that is a decision that Wilson will be right behind.
