Academy graduate Max Bird featured for the entirety of Saturday afternoon’s encounter between Coventry City and Derby County as the Rams fell to their second consecutive defeat.

Speaking to RamsTV, following the defeat at St. Andrews, the 20-year-old was asked whether confidence amongst the squad had taken a hit. He ensured otherwise as he said the following.

“I wouldn’t say so,” said Bird.

“We’ve got to show a better reaction to going a goal down. We all know we’re a good group of players, we trust each other, we’re close knit on and off the pitch so we have to be better when we go a goal down.”

The midfielder added: “We have to be braver and play to our strengths.”

Bird has had big boots to fill since Krystian Bielik suffered an ACL injury and it’s unclear to some whether or not the youngster is ready or has what it takes to be a regular started in the first team.

Some fans took to Twitter to have their say, their opinions split on this occassion.
