As part of the England U19s training camp being held at St. Georges Park, the Young Lions faced Arsenal U23s in a friendly match on Saturday afternoon.

Teden Mengi, on loan at Derby County from Manchester United, featured as Ian Foster’s side dismantled the Gunners 6-1 according to the Rising Ballers Instagram page.

Cole Palmer (Manchester City), Sam Greenwood, Joe Gelhardt (both Leeds United), Alex Mighten (Nottingham Forest) and Dion Rankine (Chelsea) were the goalscorers on the day, with the latter picking up a brace.

Mengi is currently enjoying his most senior level of national football to date, having previously been selected in U15, U16, U17 and U18 squads.

The 18-year-old has featured seven times for the Rams since signing on transfer deadline day, five of which have been starts, but on only one occasion have Derby won when he has started.

There are just eight games of the season remaining for Mengi to make an impact and if Wayne Rooney’s men are to avoid relegation, he will be hoping to add a few more wins to his Derby record before his loan spell draws to an end.

It is yet to be seen where the young defender’s future will lie during the next campaign, however, we know Rooney is set to ‘look at’ whether or not a deal would make sense for the United teenager to return for the next campaign; only time will tell.
