One Derby County player put on another ‘impressive’ display despite failing to beat Shrewsbury Town this weekend.
Derby County looked to make it three wins from three yesterday afternoon as they hosted The Shrews in a bid to close the gap between themselves and top spot.
The Rams waited till they were closing in on the hour mark before taking the lead through Max Bird, however their narrow lead wasn’t enough and they were eventually forced to settle for a point when Aaron Pierre equalised only three minutes from time.
A frustrating outing has left Derby six points from Portsmouth at the top of League One, however one player has received plaudits for his performance at Pride Park.
After giving Ebou Adams the highest rating of the afternoon (7), journalist Josh Holland wrote in Derbyshire Live: “Another impressive outing by the January signing.
“Patrolled things in-front of the back three and showed great defensive ability to kill a number of Shrewsbury attacks. Showed great ability to keep hold of the ball and win free-kicks.”
Ebou Adams has only made two appearances since joining Derby County on deadline day, but has really impressed on both.
After Derbyshire Live claimed the midfielder was what the Rams had been missing after the win over Charlton Athletic, he once again looked like one of the best players on the pitch against Shrewsbury.
Adams made 50 touches and completed 17 accurate passes, while he also won the most tackles on the pitch (4) and made two clearances.
Could Ebou Adams join Derby County permanently?
The 28-year-old has looked really important under Paul Warne and could play a vital part if Derby County are to keep up their chase for automatic promotion.
Adams will be entering the final 12 months of his contract with Cardiff City in the summer, so they could potentially look to offload him on a permanent deal.
Of course, it depends on how he does for the rest of the season and which league Derby County find themselves in, however Adams could certainly be an option to bring in.
Max Bird will leave to join Bristol City at the end of the season, while Conor Hourihane, Korey Smith and Louie Sibley will all see their contracts expire.
The Rams will be desperate to bolster their midfield, though where they look for their additions could depend on promotion.
