Derby County manager Paul Warne said he was ‘feeling relieved’ after his side’s 2-0 win away at Carlisle United.
The Rams got their first win in three league games on Saturday afternoon, with a brace from James Collins pushing Derby up to eighth place in League One.
Warne said how happy he was with the win, saying he was pleased with how they saw out the game.
“I’m feeling relieved,” Warne told the club website.
“I’d like us to play better. There was some good performances but I would also like some better performances too. Away from home, it’s just about winning but we’ll play significantly better and lose and play a lot worse and win. Overall, I’m pleased to win.
“I thought we saw the game out quite well and in the last 20 minutes we were quite resolute. The back-line were good and Joe Wildsmith looked really mature in goal. We looked dangerous on the counter-attack, although we should have made more of those. I enjoyed those parts of the game.”
Paul Warne only cares about winning
Warne went on to express how he doesn’t care how Derby win, as long as they get the three points.
“You can build a lot off wins. Hand on heart, it doesn’t bother me how we play if we win. It’s an easier interview to say we could be better but we’ve won 2-0. I do think we’ll play better. I’m just disappointed with the times we gave the ball away needlessly. We’ll watch the game back and it may look better than I feel right now, but I’m pleased with the win. It’s been a tough week for us so I’m really pleased we can finish it with a win.”
