According to the Daily Mail, Uwe Rosler is in the frame to take over the vacant position at Derby County’s upcoming Championship rivals Preston North End.

The Lillywhites are on the lookout for a new boss after sacking Alex Neil.

Rosler has plenty of experience at Championship level having had spells at Leeds United and Wigan Athletic, guiding the latter to the 2013/14 playoffs.

Derby still have Preston to play and a potential Rosler appointment would be of interest.

The German boss has a remarkable 100% winning record against Derby as a manager, with ironically all three of those victories coming away at Pride Park.

Rosler took over the Wigan post midway through the 2013/14 campaign and secured a 1-0 win against Steve McClaren’s side on New Year’s Day in 2014.

Both Derby and Wigan fell to playoff defeats to Queens Park Rangers that season.

The following campaign, Rosler’s Wigan side won 2-1 at Derby but the 52-year-old didn’t last much longer at the DW Stadium as he was sacked following a poor run of form.

Rosler soon found another Championship job with Leeds United, and he handed Paul Clement his first defeat as Derby boss with a 2-1 win at Pride Park in August 2015.

While Rosler’s spell at Elland Road was short-lived, he seemingly remains highly-regarded and Preston could reportedly turn to him to see them through the rest of the season.

The Lilywhites are just two points above Derby following one win in their last ten games.

While they should be safe from the threat of relegation, Preston will be seeking a sharp improvement and they host Wayne Rooney’s side on April 20.
