Colin Kazim-Richards has been nothing short of a revelation since signing as a free agent under Phillip Cocu at the beginning of the season.

Supporters had low expectations for the 34-year-old to say the least, however, his fantastic form this season has been key to Derby County’s escape from the relegation zone.

With seven goals in his 25 appearances for the Rams so far, ‘CKR’ is currently top of the club’s scoring charts for the current campaign.

His most recent strike was a late thunderbolt against fierce rivals Nottingham Forest to ensure Wayne Rooney’s side recorded a point, further adding to his cult hero status.

A recent report by The Athletic suggests that the veteran has already held talks with Rooney over a coaching role once his playing time at the club has come to and end.

The current Derby boss has publicly praised Kazim-Richards on numerous occasions for his impact behind the scenes, stating that there are sometimes occasions where he can sit back and let the striker do the talking in the dressing room.

His mantra on the pitch is quite simply impressive, he’s well spoken and a clear leader within the squad. It is no surprise that the news of his contract extension was met with sheer delight from the Rams fanbase.

It is believed his wife and children are settled in the East Midlands now and would be reluctant to leave, so should coaching be a route that Kazim-Richards fancies then it’s a career transition that could make sense for all parties.

A born winner and an all round great guy. He is loved at Pride Park and supposedly feels at home, who can blame him?

Kazim-Richards – the coach. It has a nice ring to it.
