Derby County travel to Barnsley having come through a difficult week for the club.

The Rams dominated the headlines for an off-field incident which rocked the club. Defender Richard Keogh has since been ruled out of action until December 2020.

But Phillip Cocu’s side came up with the perfect response on Saturday. They defeated Birmingham City 3-2, with goalkeeper Kelle Roos saving a penalty at 2-2.

Now, Derby head to current Championship strugglers Barnsley three games unbeaten and with some momentum. Here is how we believe they will line up at Oakwell.

Derby changed to a back three for the final 20 minutes against Birmingham. It worked well, and it isn’t the first time the Rams have done that this season.

Jayden Bogle’s return from injury is a huge lift for the side. And, the £10 million-rated fullback’s inclusion could prompt the change in system which arguably suits Derby better.

Bogle at right wing-back and Max Lowe on the opposite flank gives Derby youthful quality on either side. Arguably, a trait they have sorely missed so far this season.

Curtis Davies will retain his place at the back. Krystian Bielik and Scott Malone, meanwhile, could allow Derby to play out from the back in central areas with slicker passing.

Jamie Paterson was excellent against the Blues and capped off his performance with a winning goal. He started centrally on Saturday, and that shouldn’t change at Oakwell.

Chris Martin and Martyn Waghorn linked up well last time out, while Jack Marriott off the bench is an excellent option too if Phillip Cocu wishes to add more energy up top.
