Derby County have now won their last nine competitive matches on home soil.

The Rams ended the 2023/24 in fine form at Pride Park and it now appears they have carried it over into the Championship.

After beating Chesterfield and Middlesbrough in the opening weeks of the season, Derby County enjoyed their biggest win yet as they thrashed Bristol City yesterday.

While the Robins dominated possession, Paul Warne’s side were clinical as they scored three goals to claim all of the points.

Kenzo Goudmijn and David Ozoh both scored their first goals since joining the club in the summer, while Kayden Jackson netted his third goal in six matches.

Goudmijn arrived as a relatively unknown player from AZ Alkmaar but put on a quality performance against Bristol City this weekend.

The midfielder has since taken to Instagram following his ‘amazing’ appearance, writing: “Amazing Saturday at Pride Park 🤍 My first goal and a great performance from the team 💪 Up the Rams 🐏🐏🐏”.

Goudmijn earned plenty of praise from his teammates, With Ozoh sending him a message after scoring his own goal.

He wrote: “Let’s go bro! 🤞”

The second goalscorer Jackson wrote: “🎯🔥”.

Callum Elder wrote: “❤️🔥”.

Liam Thompson wrote: “Shoooot”.

Nathaniel Mendez-Laing wrote: “😍😍😍 kenzooooo”.

Josh Vickers wrote: “😍”.

Joe Ward wrote: “🇳🇱✨”.

Goudmijn even got a message from Feyenoord and Netherlands star Calvin Stengs, who wrote “Nekz”.

The Rams’ midfield has really impressed this season

Very few will have expected such a start from Derby, but there is no doubt that a positive transfer window has helped them pick up two wins from four in the Championship so far.

The Dutchman has played an important role in their step up to the second division and really showed what he can do at Pride Park yesterday.

Goudmijn had 47 touches against the Robins, made one key pass, created one big chance, had three shots, as well as making one interception and one tackle.

The 22-year-old seems to be forming an impressive relationship with fellow new boys Ozoh and Ebou Adams, in what is a completely different midfield three to the trio that started last season in League One.

Derby offloaded a number of midfielders at the end of last season but have undoubtedly revamped it, with the three likely to play a huge role if the Rams are to avoid relegation.
