Some Derby County supporters have taken to Twitter to criticise Tom Lawrence following his display in the 1-1 draw with Championship rivals Sheffield Wednesday.

The Rams were looking to end a winless run of three games against the Owls.

The first half display, however, was as bad as it has been all season. Derby were woeful, and at times it looked like men against boys as Steven Fletcher opened the scoring.

The second half was a big improvement. Chris Martin’s penalty earned Derby a draw, and the forward was by far the Rams’ best player on the night.

Wales international Tom Lawrence, on the other hand, had a game to forget.

Derby fans frustrated by Tom Lawrence’s lack of consistency.

Lawrence has potential. He has shown on occasions how he can be a top Championship player, but those dazzling performances are few and far between.

The 25-year-old has five goals this season. He was superb on the opening day of the season but followed that up with a succession of displays where he would go missing.

After his off-field incident, his two goals against Middlesbrough helped him win over some doubters. But since then, it’s been another run of disappointing form.

Against Sheffield Wednesday, he posted a 62.1% pass accuracy rate and had five unsuccessful touches. He was Derby’s most wasteful player in possession.

Lawrence is seen as Derby’s go-to creative player. However, with a mere two assists in his last 50 Championship games, he is falling way short of expectations.
