Derby County supporters have taken to Twitter to comment on Marcus Olsson’s return to action.
The Swedish left-back has been out of action for almost a year after picking up an injury on the final day of last season. He was diagnosed with an ACL injury in his left knee and was ruled out for at least nine months.
It was a terrible piece of bad luck for Olsson, as he subsequently missed Derby’s playoff encounters with Fulham.

Left-back has since been a problem area for new Rams manager Frank Lampard. First Craig Forsyth picked up a ligament injury ruling him out for the season, while summer signing Scott Malone has suffered from several niggling problems.
It prompted Derby to sign Lampard’s former teammate Ashley Cole in the summer. The 38-year-old has started the last two games against Blackburn Rovers and Bolton Wanderers.
But Olsson’s return to the U23 side could put him in contention during the run-in. Commenting on Twitter, supporters were happy to see the player finally make his return.

Good to see Marcus Olsson getting 45 minutes for the @dcfcacademy #DCFCU23s against West Ham at Pride Park tonight. Almost a year out for him after his ACL injury. He delivered a great ball for @JaydenLawson7 opener 💪🏻 #PL2 #dcfc #dcfcfans pic.twitter.com/jp7Kfu62Dc

I thought Olsson looked fit and full of running for the 45 minutes he was out at Pride Park last night. Any chance of a first team return?#DCFC https://t.co/TY4rflzQQf

Marcus Olsson’s situation at Derby County:
Olsson has a contract at Derby which expires in the summer. With so many left-backs on the books, it is difficult to see him remaining at the club beyond this season unless he has a big impression on Lampard over the next month.
The 30-year-old signed for the Rams in January 2016 from Blackburn Rovers. He has made 61 Championship appearances for the club in that time, battling Forsyth for the regular left-back spot.
Olsson’s best moment in a Rams shirt came during Darren Wassall’s interim spell back in 2016. He scored the winner in a 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest at Pride Park with a well-taken right-footed effort.

His comeback came in the U23s 2-2 draw with West Ham United. Olsson capped off a 45-minute showing with an excellent assist for Mitchell-Lawson to slide home.
