Some Derby County supporters have taken to Twitter to praise Graeme Shinnie following his excellent performance in the 2-0 win over Luton Town.
Derby came into the game coming off the back of a disappointing draw at Barnsley.
Players such as Martyn Waghorn and Duane Holmes were dead on their feet at Oakwell, prompting Phillip Cocu to make key changes to the starting eleven.

In came summer signing Graeme Shinnie to the midfield to play alongside Krystian Bielik. And the two players ran the game for the Rams in a comfortable home win.
A Simon Sluga howler and Tom Lawrence cross-come-shot handed Derby all three points. But, the biggest talking point of the day was Shinnie’s wonderful display.
Here are some of the best comments:
Shinnie is really massive, quality, decent player.

Glad shinnie played well. Just the bite we need in middle!

Shinnie was brilliant today, added a bit of bite into the midfield and used the ball well. Impressed again with Paterson and thought we looked a bit better dealing with balls into the box today #dcfc

Every time we lost the ball in the first half, Shinnie won it back. Great performance 👍🏼 #DCFC

Graeme Shinnie was superb this afternoon against Luton. Kept the game simple, comfortable on the ball, a tenacious presence in the middle & consistently regained possession. Played his way into the Cocu’s plans with that performance 👏🏻 #dcfc #dcfcfans pic.twitter.com/q9nDA3FdEe

Shouldn’t moan too much about a 2 nil win but have to say we were lucky and the result slightly harsh on Luton… on the plus side Shinnie was absolutely brilliant… why has Cocu not played him in the league before 🤷🏻♂️ #dcfc #dcfcfans

Shinnie was excellent. Looks exactly what we signed him for. Him and Bielik looks the right balance, as does Davies and Clarke. Keep that spine the same, get some consistency. Great to have Bogle back also. #dcfc

Graeme Shinnie has a debut to remember:
Shinnie arrived as a free transfer signing from Aberdeen in the summer.
The 28-year-old has been overlooked by Cocu for some reason. However, the injury to Tom Huddlestone gave Shinnie an opportunity which he grabbed with both hands.
Against Luton, Shinnie posted 12 duel winners, seven tackles and three interceptions. In possession, he took a team-high 88 touches and completed 90.9% of his passes.
Ironically, Shinnie was making his Championship debut with the Rams against Luton’s Andrew Shinnie. The Hatters man was thoroughly outplayed by his younger brother.

Shinnie now has the task of cementing his place as one of Derby’s midfield duo.
