It was a stunning performance from Derby in the Premier League Cup. Darren Wassall’s side showed their credentials as one of the best young sides out there.
Sibley netted a wonderful hat-trick. And, after posting the goals on Instagram, he received plenty of plaudits with Norwich City’s Adshead among them.
Dan Adshead is regarded as a potential star of the future. The 18-year-old joined Norwich in the summer from Rochdale United in a deal worth around £350,000.
Adshead made his Rochdale debut at just 16. According to reports in The Sun, the likes of Barcelona and Bayern Munich had scouted the England U19 international.
What’s next for Louie Sibley?
Sibley receiving such adulation from England’s fellow top youngsters shows he has some future in the game. The next step is a breakthrough to Derby’s first team.
The attacking midfielder has featured in the Carabao Cup. Derby boss Phillip Cocu gave him minutes against Nottingham Forest, alongside several other U23s.
The comparisons with Will Hughes are starting to mount. However, Sibley is a different player, playing further forward and offering a bigger goal threat.
