Derby County could once again be busy in 2024, as the Rams vie for promotion from League One.
Derby County are now in their second season in League One.
Paul Warne was coming under criticism after a mixed start to the season which saw the Rams sitting in 8th after the opening 11 games.
But Derby now sit in 4th after a strong win over Lincoln City earlier in the week, with the Rams just four points behind Peterborough United in 2nd.
January will no doubt play a crucial role in defining their season. But as a Football League club, Derby will know that they still have to be a selling club in order to build and work their way up the pyramid.
Here we look at three players Derby County should look to sell in 2024…
Sonny Bradley
The 32-year-old has been a relatively disappointing signing for Warne this season.
He arrived with promotion experience with Luton Town and he looked like a shrewd capture for the Rams, but he’s barely started for Derby County this season.
He’s started just 10 games in all competitions this season, largely playing as a back up player or as a late substitute.
Given his experience, he’ll no doubt be a strain on the wage bill, and so Bradley could be one who the Rams look to move on in 2024.
Max Bird
Unfortunately for Derby County, it looks like this season will be Max Bird’s last at the club.
The 23-yeard-old has already made 182 total appearances for the club and looks set to surpass the 200 mark in 2024, having played 16 times in League One this season.
But ahead of January, it’s been claimed that Liam Rosenior’s Hull City will return for Bird, who remains out of contract at the end of the season.
If Derby County can get a good deal for Bird in January, then they should take it,
Louie Sibley
The 22-year-old hasn’t really lived up to the early hype he promised during his breakthrough 2019/20 campaign.
His role in the side is a bit different now to what it was at first; he’s more of a wing-back player now than a striker, and he’s often used as an impact substitute.
Earlier this season it was said that Wayne Rooney at Birmingham City was eyeing up Sibley among a few other Derby County players, and if the offers there, it might make sense for everyone to part ways.
Sibley has hit a bit of an impasse this season and a new challenge could be ideal for him, and taking a cash injection from his sale could be best for Derby too.
