According to TEAMTalk, Derby County and Nottingham Forest are among several clubs looking to sign Crewe Alexandra defender Perry Ng.

The 23-year-old captain is out of contract at Crewe at the end of the season.

His situation has alerted numerous Championship clubs including Derby, Forest, Birmingham City, Charlton Athletic and Bristol City.

Ng has been in superb form this season as Crewe sit third in the League Two table.

Crewe manager David Artell told Cheshire Live how he is a born leader.

He’s a leader. Paul Green’s a leader, Perry Ng’s a leader, it’s as simple as that. Eddie Nolan is, it’s what they are – leaders of men. They just go about their business, unassuming at times. They know when to say strict and harsh words.

Ng is a product of Crewe’s academy, having joined aged six.

Eligible to represent Singapore, the central defender started out as a right-back and made his Crewe debut in 2015. He has an abundance of potential.

Derby will be on the lookout for new defenders to bolster their squad this summer.

The Rams have already signed Mike te Wierik on a pre-contract agreement. But, Richard Keogh’s sacking still leaves them short of options going forward.

Curtis Davies turns 35 this year. Craig Forsyth’s contract is expiring while record signing Krystian Bielik’s ACL injury means he won’t return until 2021.

Forest, meanwhile, may see Ng as an ideal bargain at the City Ground. The Reds are also short on centre-back options and will have an interesting summer ahead.
