According to a report in The Sun on Sunday (December 1; page 62), Aberdeen have slapped a £4 million price-tag on Sam Cosgrove amid Derby County interest.
The Rams have been linked with the striker ahead of January. Championship rivals Middlesbrough and Stoke City are also said to be keen on the player.
Cosgrove has been in excellent form this season. He recently netted his 18th of the season he and looks set to become Aberdeen’s first 30-goal-a-season striker since 1978-79.

The 6ft 2inch striker has had an eventful journey. After being released by Everton, he found himself at Carlisle United before joining the Dons last year.
Few expected Cosgrove to make such a big impact at Pottidrie. But his performances haven’t gone unnoticed, with Derby and Boro heavily linked ahead of January.

What could Sam Cosgrove offer Derby County?
Both Championship clubs have struggled for goals this season. Boro have netted just 16 in 18 games, while Derby have scored 19 despite an array of attacking options.
Jack Marriott, Martyn Waghorn, Chris Martin and Tom Lawrence are all capable forwards. However, they have failed to get going, especially on the road.
Manager Phillip Cocu will have Wayne Rooney available for selection from January. That said, he may be looking at Cosgrove as a long-term option.
Derby’s Chris Martin is out of contract next summer. Marriott struggles for regular game-time, while Waghorn turns 30 in January and is no longer a predominant figure.

Cosgrove, 22, has his best years ahead of him. Aside from his goals, his ability to bully defenders and bring others into play could add a new dimension for the Rams.
