Paul Warne is looking to strengthen Derby County’s attacking options but they have missed out on a key target.

Derby have signed seven players so far with Kayden Jackson and Jerry Yates brought in to bolster their attack.

However, Paul Warne wants to add another winger to give a much-needed pace boost to his forward play.

Despite having Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and Corey Blackett-Taylor, the Rams’ depth on the wing is lacking and missing out on a new target could be a big blow.

Derby County lose out to QPR on Karamoko Dembele

The Rams had identified Stade Brest winger Karamoko Dembele as a transfer target this summer, but the 21-year-old has joined Championship rivals QPR.

Dembele was linked to Derby over a move from Brest which would have given the Rams a boost of not only pace on the wing but also youth, something that the current Derby squad lacks.

He spent last season on loan at League One Blackpool where he made 47 appearances, scoring nine goals and providing 14 assists.

The winger has now joined QPR on a season-long loan, they announced his arrival on X.

Paul Warne is keen to add a winger to Derby County’s ranks

The big worry at the winger position for the Rams is that they lack depth with Warne only having three wide players at his disposal.

Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and Corey Blackett-Taylor are the Derby boss’ main two options with Tom Barkhuizen also in the running.

Because of this, Warne made it a priority to bring a new winger to Pride Park this summer, but he is yet to do so.

Derby had previously shown interest in Jamal Lowe from Sheffield Wednesday and also Portsmouth’s Josh Murphy.

Having missed out on these two and Dembele, the Rams will have to turn their attention to other options before transfer deadline day.
