According to TEAMtalk, Derby County face competition from Nottingham Forest plus Championship trio Millwall, Preston North End and Middlesbrough for winger Jack Clarke.

The winger joined Tottenham Hotspur for £10 million from Leeds United last summer.

As part of the deal, Clarke returned to Elland Road on loan but after appearing for just 19 minutes in the Championship this term, Spurs have recalled him.

TEAMtalk claim the 19-year-old will move out on loan again this month with a decision to be made this week. He has several Championship clubs eyeing a deal until the end of the season, including Derby, Forest, Middlesbrough, Preston and Millwall.

The Rams have struggled for quality in wide areas this season. Tom Lawrence and forward Martyn Waghorn have mainly occupied the winger positions with little success.

But, following the emergence of academy talent Jason Knight and the improvement of Duane Holmes, Derby may feel they are better off strengthening elsewhere.

Clarke has plenty of ability. He made his first start for Leeds last season, and helped the Whites claim a 2-0 win over Derby as he caused left-back Max Lowe several problems.

This season, however, he fell out of favour under Marcelo Bielsa. He is still inexperienced at Championship level, and he may need some time to get up to match fitness.

Both Preston and Forest are pushing for the Championship’s playoffs this term. The Reds may feel Clarke’s presence could help take the burden off 14-goal Lewis Grabban.

Preston, meanwhile, have struggled to replace Callum Robinson’s pace out wide.
