According to Football Insider, Derby County are weighing up a move for Northampton Town goalkeeper David Cornell alongside Blackburn Rovers and Ipswich Town.
The Rams plotted to make some early moves in the January transfer window.
Phillip Cocu’s side, however, have so far been left frustrated in their quest to strengthen the squad and enter the final week having yet to bring in any fresh faces.

That said, question marks have been raised over current goalkeeper Kelle Roos and loanee Ben Hamer. The latter will return to parent club Huddersfield Town in the summer.

A new goalkeeper will become a priority for the Rams. And, if reports are to be believed, Northampton Town’s David Cornell could be a surprise target.
The 28-year-old has largely featured in the lower leagues throughout his career. Prior to his spell with the Cobblers, he was on the books of Oldham Athletic.
But Cornell has shown plenty of quality this season. He has kept 11 clean sheets, including one in the recent FA Cup draw at home to Championship outfit Derby.
His form has also reportedly attracted the interests of Ipswich Town and Blackburn Rovers, with the latter set to lose Christian Walton this summer when his loan expires.
Cornell’s contract at Northampton expires this summer. The League Two side may benefit more from selling him in a cut-price deal now rather than risk losing him for free.
