Derby County have had a late bid turned down for a ‘superb’ Premier League prospect on deadline day.
Derby County have been desperate to bolster their attack this month, having already brought Corey Blackett-Taylor in from Charlton Athletic.
The Rams’ main focus was to add a striker to their ranks, but pursuits of Sheffield Wednesday pair Lee Gregory and Michael Smith both came to an end earlier today.
While Paul Warne has made it clear he wants to add a forward during the January window, he now appears to have turned his attention to a winger.
According to DaveOKOP, Derby have had a loan bid turned down for Liverpool’s Bobby Clark.
The League One club made a last-minute attempt to bring the youngster to Anfield, however Jurgen Klopp was reportedly eager to keep him in the squad for the rest of the season.
Their pursuit comes the day after Clark made a cameo appearance during Liverpool’s 4-1 thrashing of Chelsea last night.
Who is Bobby Clark?
Bobby Clark joined Liverpool’s academy from Newcastle United for £1.5 million in 2021, and was identified as one of the ‘five youngest English footballers to watch out for’ by BBC Sport a year later.
The 18-year-old made his senior debut for The Reds during their 9-0 hammering of Anfield last season and he has since racked up a further four appearances.
Clark has received plenty of praise since bursting onto the scene at Anfield, with his substitute appearance against Arsenal earlier this month catching the eye of Alan Shearer.
Speaking on the Rest is Football podcast about Clark and Connor Bradley, the former striker said: “Did you see when he brought the two youngsters on in the last 10 or 15 minutes, Jurgen Klopp?! It was 0-0 at the time and I thought both of them were superb when they came on.
“I think there was an element of ‘we’ll just go for it here’. They didn’t want the draw because that would’ve messed their winter break weekend up, because they’d have had to go into a replay. I think Klopp thought ‘I’m just going to go for it here’ and it was brilliant. The two youngsters coming on were superb.”
Clark has also risen up through the youth ranks in the England set-up, making his debut for the U19s in the 1-0 defeat to Germany in September.
