According to Football League World, reported Derby County target Alex Pritchard has entered talks with Birmingham City over a potential move to St Andrew’s.

Pritchard is a free agent after leaving Huddersfield Town at the end of the season.

The 28-year-old once cost the Terriers £11 million, but he fell out of favour with the Yorkshire club and was one of nine players released by Huddersfield last month.

According to a report by Last Word on Football last month, Derby and Birmingham are among several clubs looking to take advantage and sign Pritchard on a free transfer.

But the latest from FLW claims the Blues have taken the first step. The report claims Birmingham have entered early talks with manager Lee Bowyer keen to get a deal done.

Pritchard still has plenty of ability and he could be a potential bargain this summer.

Derby’s lack of creativity:

Derby, meanwhile, must look to add more creativity ahead of next season.

The Rams were the lowest scorers in the Championship last season. Right-back Nathan Byrne topped their assist charts with four alongside Martyn Waghorn.

Tom Lawrence, Jason Knight, Max Bird, Graeme Shinnie and Polish winger Kamil Jozwiak only accounted for a combined measly five assists between them all season.

Manager Wayne Rooney has pleaded with Derby to resolve their takeover issue. However, with EFL charges still unresolved, the situation could drag on for some time to come.

Derby have big holes in defence, while a new striker is also a priority. But with current limited finances, it remains to be seen what impact the Rams can have in the market.
