Martin, 31, still has plenty to offer at Championship level.
After struggling under different managers at Pride Park, the former Norwich City man was brought back into the fold by Phillip Cocu last term and he proved his qualities.
Aside from his goals and assists, Martin is excellent at holding the ball up, bringing others into play and allowing midfield runners to go beyond him with assurances.
Martin will re-join former Derby man Andreas Weimann at Ashton Gate.
As for the Rams, a new forward is surely a priority for the club going into the new campaign.

Jack Marriott has started Derby’s pre-season friendly games. However, the former Peterborough United striker has struggled with fitness over the past 12 months.
Martyn Waghorn is also an option. However, he has yet to feature this pre-season while a lack of wingers may see him pushed out wide at times this coming season.
