Former Derby County player Joe Ledley could be in line for a shock move to Newport County as Michael Flynn discusses the prospect of him signing, South Wales Argus report.
Ledley has been without a club since his release from Derby last season.

The Wales international has been training with Derby’s Championship rivals Cardiff City to maintain his fitness. But, a deal with the Bluebirds seems unlikely.
Newport manager Michael Flynn admits he has been in talks with Ledley over a deal with the League Two club, adding he will know more by next week.
I speak to Joe quite regularly. Is there an opportunity there? I don’t know. I’ll know more next week. I’ll speak to Joe and if there is anything [in the pipeline] he’ll come in and train first. He hasn’t trained with us. He’s been training with Cardiff. Can we get him? I’m not quite sure. Is it close? No. Have I spoken to him? Yes. That’s all there is to say at this stage.

Joe Ledley enjoyed mixed success at Derby County:
Ledley joined Derby on a free transfer in the 2017-18 campaign.
The former Celtic man became a key figure under then-boss Gary Rowett, helping the Rams reach the Championship playoffs where they lost out to Fulham.
Under subsequent boss Frank Lampard, however, Ledley made just one appearance.
At 32, the 77-capped international should still have a year or two left at a higher level. It’s a surprise to see that he has been without a club for the best part of nine months.

Newport are currently fifth in League Two. It would be a huge coup for the Welsh side should they pull off a deal for Ledley. And it could be the difference in their promotion hunt.
