Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna has admitted that Idris El Mizouni can go out on loan amid interest from Derby County.

El Mizouni has emerged as a target for the Rams over the last week.

The East Anglian Daily Times reported last week that Derby have made a loan offer for Ipswich talent El Mizouni.

Charlton Athletic and Wycombe Wanderers are also understood to have made approaches for the youngster.

Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna has now commented on El Mizouni’s future and a loan move is in the works.

McKenna has told the East Anglian Daily Times that El Mizouni has been told that he is free to go on loan again.

McKenna was happy with El Mizouni’s season on loan at Leyton Orient in League Two and now wants them to keep playing regularly.

The Tractor Boys boss claims that El Mizouni is now in talks with ‘a few clubs’ with Derby surely one of them.

“Idris is coming off a really good season (at Leyton Orient) and is looking at his options,” said McKenna. “We’ve communicated with him to say that if the right loan move is available we would like to keep him playing because he’s got such good momentum from last year.”

“It’s now about what the right move is for Idris and the club. He’s in communication with a few clubs. He’s been at the training ground this week training, but his main focus at the moment, rightly so, is about securing what’s going to be his right move this summer. Hopefully that will be sorted in the not so distant future,” he added.

Who is Derby County target Idris El Mizouni?

El Mizouni was born in France and started out with AC Boulogne-Billancourt before joining AS Meudon in the South West of Paris.

Ipswich pounced to sign El Mizouni as a teenager, handing him a spot in their academy.

The midfielder progressed in Suffolk and signed a first professional deal in December 2018 with a professional debut coming just three months later.

Tunisia handed El Mizouni a first cap in 2019 but that is his only international appearance so far.

El Mizouni has turned out 26 times for Ipswich, bagging two goals in the process, but has now been loaned out four times.

Cambridge United secured two loan deals before a 2021 stint with Grimsby Town.

El Mizouni enjoyed a fruitful spell with Leyton Orient last season, recording three goals and two assists as they won promotion.

Primarily a central midfielder, El Mizouni was hailed as ‘excellent’ last season as he impressed Orient boss Richie Wellens, with a season in League One seemingly the next step for him.

Derby will be hoping to win the race but will have to fend off some stern competition from League One rivals.
