According to Football Insider, Millwall are looking to sign Derby County player Mason Bennett despite the Rams offering the attacker a new deal to stay at Pride Park.
Bennett made his debut for the Rams in 2011 but his contract expires this summer.
The winger is Derby’s longest-serving player. However, in nine years, he has only made 89 first team appearances and completed the full 90 minutes just twice.
Derby have reportedly offered the 23-year-old a new contract.
The news has seemingly divided fans. Some feel the player hasn’t lived up to expectations, while the off-field drink-driving incident has hardly improved his popularity.

That said, Bennett is a former Derby academy player and last season was his best yet. He posted three goals and four assists in 33 league appearances. The youngster started both the playoff semi-final at Leeds United and the final against Aston Villa.
Millwall are looking to bolster their playoff hopes this season as they sit just two places outside the top six. They reportedly see Bennett as an ideal option.
Lions manager Gary Rowett worked with Bennett during his 15-month spell as Derby boss. He will know all about the forward’s capabilities and what he can bring to the team.
Millwall don’t have the biggest budget in the Championship. But, they have shown they can compete near the top and push for a place in the Premier League.
