According to Football Insider, Aston Villa have made Derby County and Preston North End target Keinan Davis available for loan in the upcoming January transfer window.

The Villa striker has barely featured for the Midlands club this season.

Davis has made just two Premier League appearances as Ollie Watkins leads the line, while the injured Wesley is on the verge of his long-awaited return to action.

According to Football Insider, Derby and Preston made approaches for him in September.

Villa seemingly rebuffed the Championship duo at the time. However, with Wesley returning, manager Dean Smith is now reportedly open to a loan move.

Football Insider claim Preston have retained their interest, while Queens Park Rangers and Huddersfield Town have also joined the list of Championship suitors.

Davis, who stands at 6ft 3inch, has plenty of physicality alongside his technical ability.

Preston bolstered their striker options with the arrival of former Derby player Emil Riis Jakobsen in the summer, but the Lilywhites may have their eye on another in January.

Alex Neil’s side are seven points adrift of the Championship playoffs.

Derby, on the other hand, remain in the bottom three despite interim manager Wayne Rooney presiding over a six-game unbeaten run following Philip Cocu’s exit.

The Rams have been desperately short of goals this season. Chris Martin’s exit in the summer left a void, while the injured Jack Marriott joined Sheffield Wednesday on loan.

Colin Kazim-Richards has been a surprise positive for the side. But Derby may feel Davis has more mobility than the 34-year-old and he could be a fine short-term alternative.
